A Derailed Train of Thought

in today’s GTFOHWTBS And in “a-setback-that-will-send the-Black-race-in -America-back-20 years” news…Porsha

Porsha Stewart has come under fire for her blonde moment in a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.  On the episode, the ladies visited the First African Baptist Church, which is a part of Savannah’s Freedom Trail tour. During the tour, the tour guide talked about the ventilation holes in the floor which were used to hide slaves on the run. The church was part of a network of safe-houses called the Underground Railroad (as led by Harriet Tubman) during the pre-Civil War era. The  tour guide said til this day, they still don’t know how groups of escaped slaves managed to get in and out from the crawl space. Then as if on cue, Ms. Stewart chimed in with this priceless gem, “Well, there has to be an opening for a railroad at some point, because somebody’s driving the train. It’s not electric like what we have now.”

*Record scratch*

No she didn’t. Yes she did. Porsha Stewart actually believed there as an actual train underground that led runaway slaves to their freedom. Harriet Tubman is doing somersaults in her grave.  What makes this even more embarrassing is the fact that her grandfather is civil rights leader Hosea Williams. You figured coming from that pedigree, she would KNOW her Black History.  But alas, not every branch on the family tree is strong. Mark Twain once said, “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt”.  This is another example of why the powers-that-be continue to not take the Black race in America as serious as they should.  How can you when you have a grand-daughter of a civil rights leader not be remotely knowledgeable in an important piece of our Black History.  She probably think MLK means milk.

  1. We should blame ourselves for not taking control of the education of our children. We criticize them for not wanting to go to school; but we expect the very system that oppressed and continue to oppress us, that mis-educated and under educated us to give our youngsters a true education. She’s not dumb; she’s just ignorant of history because she was never taught it.

  2. She’s not dumb. She’s just ignorant of history because she was not taught it. We don’t take responsibility for our children’s education. Black people on school boards mean nothing. Even after the U.S. Supreme Court, back in 1954 determined that Black children got an inferior education in segregated all Black schools; 60 years later inner-city (the new name for Black) schools are still segregated and inferior. We, as a community, must want a decent education for our people that exposes the true nature of this decadent American society. We, as a community must want education that teaches us our true history and our role in the present -day society.
